WonderWerk

Client: Heavy Metal Magazine
Medium: Narrative Audio Podcast (Sci-Fi / Fantasy / Horror Anthology)
Roles: Writer, Director, Voice Actor

  • Heavy Metal launched WonderWerk, a narrative audio anthology podcast inspired by the creative spirit of Love, Death + Robots — but designed entirely for audio. Each episode featured original sci-fi, fantasy, or horror stories brought to life through cinematic soundscapes and high-end production. Heavy Metal needed strong storytelling, atmospheric direction, and immersive worldbuilding to anchor the anthology and differentiate it from typical audio dramas.

  • Morgan was hired to write, direct, and voice-act multiple episodes of the WonderWerk series. He crafted mind-bending, high-concept narratives that captured the signature Heavy Metal tone—bold, strange, philosophical, and visually evocative even in purely auditory form. Morgan worked closely with the graphic audio team to shape pacing, tension, emotional beats, character voices, and atmospheric worldbuilding, ensuring each episode felt like a cinematic experience without visuals.

    • Wrote multiple original scripts for the anthology across sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres.

    • Directed narrative pacing, sound-driven worldbuilding, and emotional performance.

    • Performed character voice acting across select episodes.

    • Collaborated with Heavy Metal’s sound design and production team to create immersive audio experiences.

    • Ensured each story aligned with Heavy Metal’s psychedelic, experimental brand identity.

    • Contributed to both narrative and tonal cohesion across the anthology.
