Rolling Loud

Client: Rolling Loud (World’s Largest Hip-Hop Festival)
Medium: 4-Part Animated Mini-Series + Comic Integration
Roles: Creative Director, Writer, Character Developer

  • Rolling Loud — the largest hip-hop festival in the world — wanted to elevate their brand with a bold, culture-driven concept: turning their headlining rappers into superheroes in a way that felt authentic to the hip-hop community. They needed a narrative event spanning multiple cities, multiple artists, and multiple tones, all tied together by one cohesive storyline.

  • Morgan and the team developed a four-part animated mini-series, each episode set in a different city on the Rolling Loud tour. Every installment featured a rotating ensemble cast of the festival’s headliners, reimagining them as stylized superheroes rooted in their public personas, musical identities, and cultural presence. The storytelling blended hip-hop energy with comic-book exaggeration, creating a cross-medium fan experience that felt epic, fresh, and culturally on-brand.

    • Conceptualized the full superhero-themed narrative universe for the Rolling Loud brand.

    • Wrote scripts and narrative arcs for the four-episode animated mini-series.

    • developed character powers, aesthetics, and behaviors inspired by each rapper’s identity.

    • Oversaw storyboarding, art direction, and visual cohesion across all four episodes.

    • Integrated comic-style visuals and motifs tailored to hip-hop culture.

    • Collaborated with festival organizers to align story moments with city-specific themes.

Here’s what we came up:

THE STORY

A new line of “special treats” is given to a group of rappers, which has some “super” side effects. At first it’s all fun and games, but when some of the rappers start to go missing, the others must come together and use their powers to stop the people responsible, before it’s too late…

We even designed a custom Cereal Bar where festival goers could snack and read the comics.

    • Headlining rappers publicly celebrated their animated personas — generating organic hype and social buzz.

    • Expanded Rolling Loud’s brand identity into a narrative-driven entertainment property.

  • This project demonstrates Morgan’s ability to blend music culture with narrative IP creation, transforming a festival lineup into a multi-city superhero universe. It showcases his skill in ensemble storytelling, cross-medium worldbuilding, and crafting culturally resonant branded narratives.
