Project Z

Client: BassRush & BassCon (Insomniac Events)
Medium: Comic Book + Live-Action/Comic Promo Video
Roles: Creative Director, Writer, Worldbuilder

  • BassRush and BassCon—two powerhouse musical genres and festival brands—were coming together to create a brand-new hybrid music festival. The challenge: give fans a compelling reason to “choose a side” and emotionally invest in the rivalry between the two factions. The festival needed more than visuals and lineups—it needed a story.

  • Morgan developed a full comic book series that established the lore, factions, characters, and overarching conflict behind the festival’s theme. This story universe became the backbone of the entire event. Morgan also wrote the script and narrative premise for the live-action/comic hybrid promotional video, which blended stylized visuals with the comic’s worldbuilding to introduce the thematic rivalry.

The story assets Morgan created didn’t just remain in print—they became the blueprint for the entire festival aesthetic. The client used Morgan’s characters and world to build out physical sets, costumes, signage, props, environmental design, and merchandise.

    • Created the complete narrative foundation for the BassRush x BassCon crossover.

    • Developed characters, factions, lore, and central conflict to motivate fans to “choose a side.”

    • Wrote the comic series that established the festival’s theme and emotional stakes.

    • Scripted the hybrid promo video combining live action and comic elements.

    • Collaborated with the client on world tone, visual motifs, and thematic cohesion.

    • Provided creative direction to ensure all story elements could extend into festival production and merchandise.

SIDE

    • The story universe became the central theme of the entire festival, influencing set design, costumes, marketing, and merchandise.

    • Fans embraced the narrative, passionately choosing and representing their sides—turning the festival’s premise into a community movement.

    • The client successfully transformed a typical music event into an immersive narrative experience driven by Morgan’s IP framework.

  • This case perfectly illustrates Morgan’s ability to create story-driven branded worlds that extend far beyond the page. His narrative and characters fueled an entire festival identity—proving how powerful storytelling can elevate experiential events, fan engagement, and brand culture.
