Jonathan “Jonny” Jones is a retired jazz trumpet player who had his 15 minutes of fame and now spends his time running a small concert hall in Nova city called The Neon. Those close to him know that he is not actually as retired as he leads most people to believe. In fact, he regularly performs at his other venue, the illegal speak is easy hidden directly beneath the Neon called “The Nylon”. Only individuals who come with personal referrals are allowed into The Nylon. Which hosts an elite collection of “Red” musicians every Monday and Thursday.

Desiree “Dez” Jackson is a singer for whom redlining is as natural as breathing. Dez is an artist in the complete sense, a gifted musician, incredible painter, poet, and photographer, her entire being could be classified as red content. And that gives her no choice but to be a misfit and rebel in her world. She is prepared to suffer for her art. Dez is Jonny's girlfriend, and her emotionally unpredictable behavior is a constant source of both stress and excitement for Jonny.

Heather Starr is a Pop Star in the music biz. She’s spunky, playful, and surprisingly down to earth despite her fame and growing success. She's known for her signature purple hair, and outlandish style. What her fans don't know, is that Heather hates the music she performs. She sees herself as a repressed artist and wishes she could play the sort of music she really loves. She is booked to play at the Neon and that's where everything changes for Ms. Starr.

The Collector is a mysterious individual. His identity is ever-changing, at least according to his CDR, which seems to change every time we see it. Always dressed in a three piece suit and sporting a pair of blacked out sunglasses, the Collector’s aesthetic is the one part of his identity that seems to remain consistent.

All we know about the Collector is that he is wealthy, owns an art gallery in Siren City (hence his nickname), and is very well connected. He’s smart, calculating, and cool under pressure. He seems to have every possible scenario accounted for, before he even walks into a room.

Bobby Wentz is a bartender at the Neon. Just like the rest of Jonny's hand-picked employees, Bobby is privy to the speakeasy operation of the Nylon in the basement. Bobby is an aspiring musician himself, but has never managed to redline, despite his best efforts. Perhaps he lacks the proper motivation. Regardless, he thinks he's just as good as anybody else, especially Jonny.

A Detective for the Nova City DCP who specializes in red line contraband, Max Tiller has a tough exterior and is perceived as a stone-cold enforcer of the law. But Tiller has a complicated past. He is a single father who tries his best to protect his daughter Stella from the aftereffects of his wife’s suicide. There are aspects of himself that Max chooses to ignore and hide even from those closest to him.

Gus Steinberg is Heather Starr's current tour manager. But before that he was the tour manager of a young upstart jazz trumpet player named Jonny Jones. After Jonny stepped away from playing music professionally, he and Gus remained close friends. He's always talking a big game and telling people what they want to hear. But underneath the bravado, Gus is a loyal friend and an honest businessman. His word is his bond.
